Abstract:
Reading skills are important to learn, especially in foreign language classes. Reading is the beginning of the arrival of knowledge, the more you read a lot of books, the more knowledge you will have. Previous studies have highlight the importance reading and strategy to improve reading but have not sufficiently addressed the specific using literature circle with extensive reading. This study aims to fill this gap by using literature circle strategy in extensive reading to assists students reading skill. This study investigated to how students’ responses to using literature circle in extensive reading class. The study employed a qualitative research design, including observation and interview. The findings data from observation showed that teacher required to implement literature circle with extensive reading in teaching and learning process. Students can participates actively on implementation literature circle in extensive reading class and make students feels enjoyable and enthusiastic in literary work. The finding data from interview showed that the students can be assist their reading skill. Because the effects of literature circle strategy with extensive reading in learning is effectively can assist students to enjoyment of reading activities. Besides, the students got easy in developing the idea and opinion in literary learning. To assist students reading skill the teacher should use effective methods to make students can enjoyable and students can be active in class.
