The Use of English Pronunciation Application in Practicing Pronunciation

Abstract

English Pronunciation is a science that studies techniques/procedures for pronouncing English vocabulary. Having good pronunciation can make our communication with the person we are talking to or native speakers easier to understand. Learning English Pronunciation from native speakers can be a reference for completing the pronunciation sounds of our English words. This research is to figure out the students practice English pronunciation by using English Pronunciation Application and to investigate the students obstacles in using English pronunciation Application. This study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive design. Based on the purposive sampling technique, the researcher selected 50 students in the Student English Club at Senior High School in Tasikmalaya. Observation and interviews were the instruments used by the researcher to collect the data. To analyze the data, the researcher used triangulation analysis. The findings that used English Pronunciation Application in practicing pronunciation there are significant affects to their pronunciation mastery skill in the student English Club at Senior High School in Tasikmalaya. The students need the teacher’s guidance intensively in pronunciation practice. The intensive teacher guidance is needed in correcting students' English pronunciation errors. It is very important because the teacher here is the role of a substitute parent. Therefore, the teacher is very important in guiding students in correcting the students' English pronunciation errors. The students need to listen the native speakers’ sound intensively by using a media or application.
