Abstract:
Intersection refers to an area where two or more road branches meet or cross,
requiring supporting facilities to manage traffic movement effectively. The study
location is the unsignalized four-way intersection at Cicariang Kawalu,
Tasikmalaya City. The objective of this research is to analyze the traffic volume
and evaluate the performance of the intersection. The method applied in this study
follows the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023). Field surveys
were conducted to collect average daily traffic volume data to determine capacity
calculations, delays, degree of saturation, and queue probabilities. The results of
the analysis for the unsignalized four-way intersection at Cicariang Kawalu,
Tasikmalaya City, indicate that the peak traffic volume occurred on Monday,
April 22, 2024, between 06:00 and 07:00 WIB, with a vehicle count of 2,184.2.
The intersection capacity was calculated at 2,522.14 vehicles per hour, with an
approach width of 3.125 meters. The degree of saturation was 0.866 seconds per
vehicle, with intersection traffic delays averaging 10.77 seconds per vehicle.
Major road delays were 7.87 seconds per vehicle, minor road delays 12.967
seconds per vehicle, geometric delay at the intersection 4.110 seconds per vehicle,
and total intersection delay 14.88 seconds per vehicle, corresponding to a Level
of Service (LOS) B. Queue probability was estimated at 34.44% for the lower
bound and 59.48% for the upper bound, indicating a stable traffic flow zone.
Drivers experienced restricted freedom in selecting their speeds.
