| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to investigate how seventh-grade students develop vocabulary through digital comics and discover their perceptions of using digital comics media in vocabulary learning. The problem students face is limited vocabulary, which affects their ability to understand teaching materials and communicate effectively in English. This study aims to find out whether digital comics can improve students’ vocabulary mastery and to explore students' perceptions regarding the use of digital comics as a vocabulary learning medium. This research used a qualitative method with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of 34 seventh-grade students in one of the junior high schools in Majalengka who were involved in vocabulary learning using the GlobalComix digital comic application. Data were collected through observation and semi- structured interviews with six selected students. The results showed that using digital comics extensively helped students understand new vocabulary through a supportive visual context. Visual aspects, typography, vocabulary, language and narration, and media presentation are essential in helping students recognize the meaning of words and use them in new sentences. Most students responded positively to using digital comics, stating that this media made learning more fun and effective. Students also reported that they remembered new vocabulary more easily, supported by the visual elements in the comics. This study concludes that digital comics, particularly the GlobalComix app, can be an effective learning medium in developing students' vocabulary, which can increase their engagement and understanding of the material taught. This study will reference teachers and researchers using digital comics, especially GlobalComix, in vocabulary learning. Further research should be conducted over a more extended period and compared with other media such as animated videos. | en_US |
