Abstract:
Backround :Children with special needs require more support and attention from their surroundings, especially from their parents. Parenting patterns applied by parents are believed to play an important role in children's social and emotional development. Objective : This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and the social and emotional development of students at SDLB Negeri Ciamis in 2025. Method : This study uses a quantitative descriptive correlational approach with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all parents of SDLB Negeri Ciamis students, totaling 86 people, taken using a total sampling technique. The instruments used were the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ) questionnaire and a social and emotional development questionnaire. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank statistical test. Research Results: The results showed that most parents applied a democratic parenting pattern (80.2%). The majority of students' social and emotional development was in the category of developing according to expectations (50%). The results of the statistical test showed a very strong and significant relationship between parenting patterns and students' social and emotional development (p- value 0.001 r 0.892). Parents, especially those with children with special needs, are encouraged to adopt a democratic parenting style to support optimal social and emotional development. Recommendations : Healthcare workers and educational institutions are expected to provide education and support, as well as build strong partnerships with families to support child development.
