Hypertension is a non-communicable disease which is a serious health problem. WHO data in 2009 showed that around the world, around 972 million (26.4%) adults in the world had hypertension with a ratio of 26.6% of men and 26.1% of women. This number is likely to increase to 29.2% in 2025.
In the 2007 Riskesdes data it was also mentioned that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia was around 30% with the incidence of complications of cardiovascular disease more in women 52% compared to 48% men (MOH, 2014). Based on recapitulation data in the Ciamis District Health Office, hypertension was ranked 4th in 233,673 cases in 2018 after Dyspepsia, Arthritis, and Ispa. One of the most frequent occurrences of hypertension in the Rancah Community Health Center is 11,921 which is the second highest area of hypertension sufferers after Ciamis City with the Non-Communicable Disease Integrated Post (POSBINDU PTM) as much as 100 percent of the villages in Rancah District, but still in the position of hypertension sufferers, one of the most in Ciamis (Health Profile of Ciamis Regency, 2018).
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on sleep quality of hypertension sufferers in the Rancah District Health Center Work Area of Ciamis District in 2019. This type of research is quasi experiment design. The population in this study were all patients with hypertension in the working area of Rancah District Health Center in Ciamis District in 2019 as many as 11,921 people. The sampling technique in this study was purposive random sampling, the number of samples was 25 people. The results of the study note that there is a significant influence between Progressive Muscle Relaxation on Sleep Quality of Hypertension Patients in the Work Area of the Rancah District, Ciamis District 201
