ABSTRACT
This research is aimed at finding out the use of Instagram to promote students’
digital literacy, the students’ perception toward the use of Instagram in teaching
writing descriptive text and students’ attitude on implementing this teaching media.
The research design used in this study was a case study. The participants of this
study consisted of 36 seventh grade Junior High School students. The data of this
study collected from questionnaire and students’ interview. The results showed that
from the students' questionnaire, the writer concluded that Instagram helps students
to promote students' digital literacy. Besides, from the students' interview the writer
concluded that the students gave positive perception about using Instagram, they
argued that learning writing descriptive text by using Instagram had motivated them
to write a good descriptive text and improve their writing skill. From both results
of questionnaire and interviews, showed that using Instagram in teaching writing
descriptive text was affected to learning activities and their digital-literacy ability.
It can be said that mobile learning, mainly Instagram helps students to promote
students' digital literacy |
