Abstract:
This study deals with the implementation of comic strips as teaching media in
narrative writing material. This study aimed to find out whether the using of comic
strips in narrative writing material enhance the students‟ writing skill and the
students‟ experience by using comic strips in narrative writing material. In this study,
the researcher used a type of experimental design that is True-experimental design
for collecting quantitative data on two groups that were randomly selected as the
experimental group and the control group. Where both groups were given a pre-test
and post-test, while the treatment in the form of learning used by comic strips was
only given to the experimental group. This study used a convergent parallel mixed
method design which consist of twogroups of experimental and control which are 22
students. The totals of participants are 44 students. The questionnaire was analyzed
by calculated the percentage of students‟ answers for each response to each
questionnaire item and then describes it. The result shows that t-observed is higher
than the score of t-table so hypothesis (H1) can be accepted. It means that there is
significant difference in students' writing skill before and after being taught by means
applying the comic strips. On the other hand, based on the questionaires students
respond positively about the implementation of comic strips as teaching media in
narrative writing material.
