ABSTRACT
This paper raised topics the implement of BBC Learning English YouTube Channel as
authentic material. This research is aimed to investigate how the teacher implements the
BBC Learning English YouTube Channel as authentic material to improve student
listening skills and what the student perception of the use of BBC Learning English
YouTube Channel as authentic material to improve students' listening skills. Case study
was used as a research design in this study, with the participants of an English Teacher
and six twelve-grade Vocational High School students. The data of this study was
collected from observation and students’ interviews. The results showed that from the
class observation BBC Learning English YouTube Channel as authentic material is
effective and helps the teacher to improve student listening skills. Besides, from the
students' interview, the students gave a positive perception of the implementation of the
BBC Learning English YouTube Channel as authentic material. They argued that
learning listening by using BBC Learning English YouTube Channel can motivate them
to learn, they feel helped by the video shown to identify the topic of the material in the
listening class and can improve their listening skill. Both results of observation and
interviews showed that using BBC Learning English YouTube Channel can help the
teacher and students to improve listening skills. It can be concluded that BBC Learning
English YouTube Channel was effective in the teaching-learning process in listening
class. Some suggestions and recommendations related to the result of her research,
especially for English teachers, students, and future researchers. For the teachers must be
able to implement BBC Learning English YouTube Channel as authentic material in the
listening class, and the students are also expected to continue learning using
authentic materials from the BBC Learning English YouTube Channel to improve
their listening skills. the researcher suggests for further research to conduct a more
in-depth study to explore students' abilities in the listening aspect with more
participants and different instruments in this study. The researcher also suggests
for further research to use another method such as the mixed method design. It
