ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using an online-based
application f collaborative writing in the reflective essay paper. This study uses a
qualitative method where the participants consist of members of the writing
community (KBM) total of 16 students. Using FGD (Focus Group Discussion) s
which consist of online group FGD (Focus Group Discussion) as the instrument of
gained data. Online group FGD (Focus Group Discussion) aims to find out the
leader of the group strategy in inviting community members to try online-based
writing applications as one of the medias that can be used in writing. During the
focus online group, discussion FGD (Focus Group Discussion) aims to determine
the improvement of members writing skills after using the online-based application
of writing reflective essay papers. In analyzing the online group FGD (Focus Group
Discussion) data, the researcher recorded the online group discussion process and
then transcribed the data into text. While the focus group discussion after the
transcription process, the data was analyzed and interpreted according to the
category writing. The result of online group FGD (Focus Group Discussion)
revealed that the leader of the group can apply the use of online-based writing
applications easily to understand where members can apply the use of the
application properly. The conclusion of this research is about the effectiveness on
the use of online-based application. Almost all of the members/participants gave
positive perceptions that writing a reflective essay paper using the online-based
application (Wattpad) can make the members enthusiastic and comfortable writing
a reflective essay paper. The use of online-based application could make the
members speak English actively during the writing process and gain information
quickly anywhere.
