Abstract:
The pronunciation of English words by non-native English speakers creates a
problem of habit. The causes of errors from different by non-English speakers,
besides, there are several errors in English, one of which is phonological speech
errors made by EFL learners. in this case the use of media, if used in complementing
teaching and learning procedures will make teaching English better and more
effective, and will also improve students' ability to understand and experiment with
language. Therefore, the researcher examines the application of English
pronunciation applications in learning English pronunciation at one of the
universities in Ciamis. This study aimed to explore the use of English pronunciation
software to overcome students' errors in pronouncing long and short vowels and to
find out students' perceptions on the use of the application. This qualitative case
study research was conducted at one of the universities in Ciamis. The sample of
this research was a lecturer of Standard English Pronunciation courses and 18
students. The researcher used two instruments in this study, it was online class
observations and closed-ended questionnaires. The result showed that the use of
English pronunciation software was quite effective in learning English as a foreign
language process since it eases the teacher to provide learning activities. Further,
the method also affected the students’ pronunciation skills and motivated them to
practice pronouncing long and short vowels
