ABSTRACT
This paper discusses teacher understanding and experience in using google
classroom during the pandemic as a teaching and learning tool. Google Classroom
is one internet-based e-learning system that was created to assist teachers in creating
and distributing projects to students in a paperless manner. E-learning was first
introduced in the 1990s with the creation of the internet and was used in distance
learning. In e-learning, students learn in a virtual setting when they participate
remotely. This research focused on the teacher’s understanding of using google
classroom as a learning tool and how teachers experience using google classroom
during the pandemic. A qualitative case study research design was formulated to
answer the research questions. The researcher observed and interviewed of English
Teacher at one of the Senior High Schools in Banjar as the subject for this study
based on the purposive sampling technique. Further, the researcher coded,
interpreted, and summarized the data gathered from the instruments. The study
showed that the teacher understands to use of Google Classroom during the
pandemic even though there are complaints about the use of the application, namely
the signal factor that does not support it. The teacher also gives the material to the
students very clearly so that the students understand the material. Moreover, it made
students more confident to learn English, provided a better understanding ff the
materials delivered by the teacher, and helped the teacher in saving time to keep the
class conducive. The conclusion is that teachers’ understanding and experience of
google classroom as a learning tool during a pandemic are very positive and very
useful or teachers to interact with students.
