Abstract:
This article reports the students' perceptions of the use of Edmodo in learning
writing recount text. This study took two sample classes with a total of fifty-one
students using the purposive sampling technique and focused on the survey study
method. Ten questionnaires were provided to identify students' perceptions of
Edmodo. In-depth information seems as important to get more information and
continuous responses to explore the benefits and problems when using Edmodo
that has been done by interviewing students. The findings reveal that by using
Edmodo students feel comfortable and make it easier the process of learning to
write recount text. More importantly, the benefits of Edmodo maintain interaction
between teachers and students inside and outside the classroom, students continue
to receive lessons or review material even when the teacher is not present in class,
and improve the student learning experience by using the new learning system. In
addition, Edmodo also has problems during the learning process but it is not too
significant, it just has to have a good and stable internet connection. It can be
noted that currently learning and teaching can benefit from using Edmodo in
learning to write recount text, students still get a lesson even though the teacher is
not present to provide direct instruction and students can improve their
achievement in learning English by reviewing the material wherever and
whenever they are.
