This study aimed to at identify and explain the challenges that teachers face when
teaching English online at a state junior high school and To discover the teacher's
solution to the challenges of classroom teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The qualitative case study research was conducted at a state junior high school. The
study used a qualitative descriptive method in the data collection process through
observation and interviews. The participants of this study were selected
purposively, namely two English teacher in public Junior High School. The results
of this study revealed that these difficulties stem from dealing with students, school
facilities, and teachers themselves. The challenges include: a lack of student interest
in learning English, a lack of basic knowledge of English lessons by students, the
use of mother tongue when learning English, school facilities, teacher unfamiliarity
with technology, and insufficient time lesson hours due to the current Covid-19
pandemic.The researcher suggests that future researchers, will serve as a reference
or source for other researchers conducting additional research on the challenges and
solutions of teachers in online teaching in junior high schools. Furthermore, it can
be a secondary source for future researchers to obtain better and more accurate
results. |
