dc.description.abstract |
This paper is a case study that aims to figure out the ways of applying Kahoot as a
formative evaluation media in students' comprehension of the aspect of writing
narrative text in online class and to investigate the perceives of the teacher of
using Kahoot as a formative evaluation media in students' comprehension of the
aspect of writing narrative text in online class. The study employed a qualitative
research design, embracing characteristics of a case study. The data were obtained
from several sources, including a classroom observation and interview. A
classroom observation conducted by the researcher in class 11 MIPA and the
interview with an English teacher. The findings revealed that the Kahoot
application is a learning application that can also be used as a media to evaluate
students' comprehension because this application can present several questions in
the form of quizzes, this quiz can be played on the challenge mode and it can be
used during distance learning. Implementing Kahoot in the process of evaluation
can increase the student's achievement so that the student's comprehension of the
narrative text can be improved. The teacher perceives that Kahoot very helped in
carrying out the formative evaluation process in the online classroom, because the
teacher can see the level of students' understanding of aspects of writing narrative
text easily. But, an obstacle when the evaluation process is unstable internet
connections. Based on the findings, it is recommended for English teachers to
apply technology such as Kahoot to help the learning and evaluation process in
online class easier and more fun and also to help students practice to increase their
understanding.
