dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT The present study examined the effectiveness of using Grammarly to improve students’ grammatical skill in writing recount text to students of a vocational high school in Ciamis regency, West Java, Indonesia. To analyze the study, writer used mixed method research design, where both quantitative and qualitative research design were used in a single research. The data were obtained by pretest-posttest and questionnaire. This present study were analyzed by using t-test for two different groups from pretest and posttest data. Meanwhile, the writer described and interpreted the data from questionnaire. The finding revealed that t-observed was 12. 268 and t-table was 2.048 at the level of significance 0.05 and degree of freedom 28. It can be seen that t-observed was higher than t-table. It means that there is a significant improvement between the students who are taught by using Grammarly and who are not. Moreover, the data from questionnaire showed that the students were very enthusiastic when teacher were delivering writing recount text material with grammatical skill by using Grammarly. In conclusion, the use of Grammarly can give positive effect in learning grammar. Thus, teachers are suggested to use Grammarly as a new alternative tool in teaching and learning grammar in terms ofwriting recount text material. en_US
