dc.description.abstract This study investigated the implementation of Telegram as a teaching media in writing descriptive text at the tenth grade of a Vocational School in Tasikmalaya. The purposes were to figure out how the teacher implements Telegram in teaching writing of descriptive text and to find out the teacher and the students’ perceptions on the implementation of Telegram in teaching writing of descriptive text. A case study was used as a research design. The writer used four research instruments in this study which were the observation, the interview, the questionnaire, and the documentary data. Triangulation analysis was used by the writer to analyze the data gained from the observation, the interview, the questionnaire, and the documentary data. The findings indicated that Telegram was implemented by the teacher in teaching writing of descriptive text. It was implemented because it could be easy to be accessed by students in learning writing outside the classroom using either their own laptops or smartphones anywhere and anytime in sending or receiving information, pictures, videos, text messages, audios, groups, and others. The findings also indicated that the students agreed that the implementation of Telegram in teaching writing of descriptive text helped them because it built positive attitudes, increased motivation, and encouraged participation. The conclusions revealed that the teacher implemented eleventh steps in teaching writing of descriptive text by implementing Telegram. The conclusions also revealed that the students perceived positively on the implementation of Telegram in teaching writing of descriptive text. Based on the conclusions, the English teachers are suggested to integrate technology of social networking such as Telegram in teaching writing of descriptive text. Meanwhile, the students are suggested to implement Telegram, which can help them improve their writing performance and increase motivation in writing descriptive text. In addition, the next researchers are suggested to find out the teacher and the students’ improvement and difficulties on the implementation of Telegram as a teaching media in writing descriptive text. en_US
