Abstract:
This paper reports on the use of Edmodo as a media to improve writing skill in literary subject. It was argued that the use of Edmodo would be an important point for students' motivation and their writing skills in literary subject. This research was aimed at discovering how Edmodo as a media can improve students’ writing skills, and finding out students' responses on the use of Edmodo as a media to improve their writing skills in literary subject. A case study was used in this research. The participants of this study were one lecturer and twenty-three students in the second year of English education department of Galuh University. The data from online observation and interview were analyzed by triangulation analysis, while the questionnaires were analyzed by using percentage calculation. The result of this study showed that the lecturer has successfully applied Edmodo to improve students' writing skills. The steps that the lecturer did in the teaching-learning process using Edmodo application were preparing materials, delivering materials, giving an assignment and discussion. Moreover, the results of the questionnaire also showed that most of the students gave positive responses on the use of Edmodo as a media to improve their writing skills in literary subject. Besides, it makes them more motivated, feels better and confident with their critical thinking and also can improve their writing skills in literary subject. Some suggestions were given to those who might benefit from the results of this research, namely for lecturers who are teaching literature courses and also for students who are deep in literature. The use of Edmodo in language literature can help them to be more motivated when used it in the teaching and learning process. Other researchers are also suggested to be able to do further research on the use of Edmodo as a media on other skills in learning English literature, in order to realize national education goals.
