Abstract:
Public transportation plays a vital role in supporting community mobility and facilitating social and economic activities in Ciamis Regency. Urban public transport Routes 04 and 05 serve as important transportation modes for local residents; however, several operational performance issues remain. This study aims to analyze the operational performance of urban public transport on Routes 04 and 05 in Ciamis Regency based on operational performance indicators, including circulation time, headway, service frequency, travel speed, service hours, the number of operating vehicles, and load factor, and to compare the results with the applicable service standards.
This study employed a quantitative descriptive research method. Data were collected through field surveys, direct observations, travel time measurements, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using operational performance parameters for public transportation based on the applicable guidelines.
The results indicate that the operational performance of Routes 04 and 05 has not fully met the required service standards for several indicators, particularly load factor, headway, and service frequency. These conditions are mainly influenced by the declining number of passengers, the increasing use of private vehicles, and the suboptimal management of the operating fleet. Nevertheless, several indicators, such as travel time and operating speed, remain within acceptable ranges. In conclusion, improving the quality of urban public transport services requires adjustments to the number of operating vehicles, more effective scheduling, and periodic route evaluations to enhance service efficiency, effectiveness, and public interest in using public transportation.
