dc.description.abstract Background: Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) is one of the important efforts in maintaining the stability of newborn body temperature. Newborns are highly vulnerable to hypothermia because their body temperature regulation system is not yet fully developed. The implementation of EBI through skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby is believed to help maintain the baby’s body temperature within the normal range. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) and the body temperature of newborns in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Cikelet in 2026. Methods: This study used a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects of the study were newborns at UPT Puskesmas Cikelet, with a total sample of 33 newborns. Data collection was conducted using observation sheets and body temperature measurements with a thermometer. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that out of 33 newborns who received Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI), 27 babies (81.8%) had normal body temperature, while 6 babies (18.2%) had abnormal body temperature. The Chi-Square statistical test showed an Asymp. Sig. value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant relationship between Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) and the body temperature of newborns at UPT Puskesmas Cikelet in 2026. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the implementation of Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) and the body temperature of newborns in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Cikelet in 2026. EBI can help maintain the stability of newborn body temperature and reduce the risk of hypothermia. Keywords: Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI), body temperature, newborn, hypothermia. en_US
