<description>Mathematics Education Students' Perceptions in Designing AI-Assisted Mathematics Problems: A Case Study of Agricultural Context
Effendi, Adang; Fatimah, Ai Tusi; Nuraida, Ida
The rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has opened new opportunities in&#13;
education, particularly in supporting mathematics problem design. This study investigates the&#13;
perceptions and intentions of prospective mathematics teacher students regarding the use of&#13;
generative AI as a tool for designing context-based mathematics problems related to corn&#13;
cultivation. Employing a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design, data&#13;
were collected from mathematics education students enrolled in an Applied Mathematics course&#13;
through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The research procedure implemented a&#13;
series of hierarchical challenges in problem design, progressing from general agricultural&#13;
contexts to more specific applications involving corn shelling technology. This design aimed to&#13;
examine how students adapted their use of AI as the level of contextual complexity increased.&#13;
Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to examine students’ perceptions and&#13;
intentions, and inferential statistics to identify differences based on demographic characteristics.&#13;
Qualitative data were analyzed thematically to capture participants’ experiences and reflections.&#13;
The findings indicate that students demonstrated highly positive perceptions of generative AI,&#13;
recognizing it as a valuable tool for enhancing digital competence, supporting career&#13;
development, and facilitating the design of contextual mathematics problems. Participants also&#13;
reported high levels of comfort and strong intentions to integrate AI into their future teaching&#13;
practices. However, the frequency of AI use was moderate, reflecting participants’ awareness of&#13;
the technology’s limitations. No significant differences in perceptions or intentions were found&#13;
based on gender or prior experience with corn cultivation. Qualitative results revealed that AI&#13;
functioned as an effective collaborative and iterative tool for idea generation, while challenges&#13;
such as limited contextual realism, rigid responses, potential logical errors, and concerns about&#13;
overreliance were noted. The study concludes that while prospective teachers hold positive&#13;
attitudes toward generative AI, there is a critical need to strengthen AI literacy, critical thinking,&#13;
and ethical awareness through targeted integration in mathematics teacher education programs

Fatimah, Ai Tusi; Setiawan, Tia; Amalia, Lidya Nur
Puji syukur kehadirat Allah SWT atas rahmat dan karunia-Nya, sehingga Buku Panduan Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dengan judul “Waste Treatment Berbasis STEAM-H untuk Pengembangan Potensi Ekonomi dan Lingkungan Berkelanjutan Melalui Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Desa Handapherang oleh Mahasiswa” ini dapat tersusun. Buku panduan ini merupakan acuan penting dalam pelaksanaan program pengabdian yang digagas oleh Direktorat Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (DPPM) Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, Sains, dan Teknologi, serta Universitas Galuh.&#13;
&#13;
Kegiatan pengabdian ini berawal dari kepedulian kami terhadap berbagai tantangan lingkungan dan ekonomi yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat Desa Handapherang. Berdasarkan analisis situasi, treridentifikasi permasalahan krusial terkait pengelolaan limbah, keterbatasan teknologi, perlunya inovasi pembelajaran, serta isu biaya produksi yang berdampak pada keberlanjutan ekonomi. Melalui skema Pemberdayaan Berbasis Masyarakat, kami berupaya memberikan solusi inovatif yang berkelanjutan dengan melibatkan mahasiswa sebagai agen perubahan.&#13;
&#13;
Fokus utama kami adalah penerapan pendekatan STEAM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics, and Health) dalam pengolahan limbah. Kami percaya bahwa integrasi berbagai disiplin ilmu ini tidak hanya akan menghasilkan solusi teknis yang efektif, tetapi juga meningkatkan kapasitas sumber daya manusia dan kesadaran lingkungan di masyarakat. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi biaya produksi di industri rumah tangga melalui pemanfaatan limbah jelantah sebagai energi alternatif, meningkatkan kualitas produk, serta mengembangkan sistem pengelolaan limbah air yang efisien. Selain itu, di lingkungan sekolah, kami berupaya meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam mendesain pembelajaran berbasis STEAM-H yang relevan dengan konservasi air dan energi.&#13;
&#13;
Kami berharap buku panduan ini dapat menjadi pegangan yang komprehensif bagi seluruh pihak yang terlibat dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini, khususnya bagi mahasiswa, dosen pembimbing, dan masyarakat mitra. Semoga program pengabdian ini dapat memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan dan berkelanjutan bagi peningkatan kualitas lingkungan serta pengembangan potensi ekonomi masyarakat Desa Handapherang.&#13;
&#13;

<description>STEAM-H in Turmeric-Tamarind Processing: Paving the Way for Mathematical Literacy in Agribusiness Vocational High Schools
Fatimah, Ai Tusi
STEAM-H in Turmeric-Tamarind Processing: Paving the Way for Mathematical Literacy in Agribusiness Vocational High Schools. Objective: This study aims to explore the application of the STEAM-H (science, technology, engineering, agriculture, mathematics, and health) approach in developing mathematical literacy in the context of turmeric-tamarind beverage processing in vocational high school students. This study also seeks to identify relevant mathematical content for the curriculum. Methods: An exploratory case study was conducted with 12 students from the Agribusiness Concentration of Agricultural Product Processing. Data were collected through worksheets, pre-tests and post-tests, direct observations, and interviews. Observations and interviews focused on analyzing students' mathematical reasoning and problem-solving processes during the practical application of these concepts. Thematic data analysis was used to identify students' STEAM-H understanding and work skills, with a particular focus on how mathematical literacy was demonstrated. Findings: This study revealed that integrating STEAM-H into the turmeric-tamarind beverage processing project improved students' understanding across disciplines. Students demonstrated the ability to understand meaning, adaptive thinking, social intelligence, and transdisciplinarity. Specifically, students effectively applied mathematical concepts in practical scenarios, demonstrating increased mathematical literacy through their ability to calculate ingredient proportions, manage costs, and predict profits. They also demonstrated an increased ability to interpret and apply mathematical reasoning in real-world contexts, such as adjusting recipes and analyzing sales data. However, there were challenges in integrating technology and engineering, particularly in the agricultural context. Conclusion: The STEAM-H approach is effective in developing mathematical literacy and practical skills in vocational education. This study highlights the importance of contextualizing mathematics education and integrating real-world applications to enhance students’ understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Future research should explore strategies to further enhance mathematical literacy in STEAM-H contexts, particularly in addressing challenges associated with integrating technology and engineering, and to investigate the long-term impact of this approach on students’ mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
