The SMK Muhammadiyah Kawali library currently still relies on a semi-digital management system centered around the use of Microsoft Excel. The entire administrative process, from member data entry, book collection, borrowing, returning, fines, to reporting, is carried out in separate files. This static and non-integrated system presents various constraints, such as slow information retrieval, a high risk of data entry errors, potential file loss, and difficulties in report generation. Additionally, the absence of a digital book catalog makes it difficult for library users to efficiently determine book availability and location, ultimately lowering the quality of library services.
This research aims to design and build a web-based library information system as a solution to the aforementioned problem. The system development method used is Rapid Application Development (RAD), which was chosen for its approach that emphasizes rapid development cycles thru prototyping and user involvement. This system was developed using the PHP programming language and is supported by a MySQL database for centralized and structured data management. This research resulted in an integrated and easily accessible library website platform. This system provides various key features, such as book collection management, a digital catalog with search functionality, loan and return management, automatic fine recording, digital member registration, and automatic report generation. The implementation of this system will increase the efficiency of librarians' work, provide convenience for library users in accessing information, and improve the overall quality of library services at SMK Muhammadiyah Kawali. |
