Low academic achievement is a central issue in this study, as learning outcomes serve as a key benchmark for evaluating the success of the instructional processthus, educators are compelled to urgently explore a variety of strategies to achieve better results. The poor performance of students is attributed to several factors, notably the educator’s selection of an inappropriate instructional model; one promising approach to enhancing learning outcomes is the implementation of a cooperative learning model of the mind‑mapping type, which requires each student to engage more actively in the learning process. The objectives of this study are threefold: (1) to determine the difference in learning outcomes between pretest and posttest in the experimental class using the mind‑mapping cooperative learning model; (2) to assess the difference in learning outcomes between pretest and posttest in the control class using conventional teaching methods; and (3) to compare the posttest outcomes of students taught via the cooperative mind‑mapping model versus those taught via conventional instruction. Employing a quasi‑experimental research design, specifically a pretest–posttest nonequivalent control group design the study evaluated two naturally occurring (non‑randomized) classes.
The findings indicate that (1) the experimental group showed a significant improvement between pretest and posttest when using the mind‑mapping model; (2) the control group also showed improvement, although to a lesser degree; and (3) the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group on the posttest, demonstrating the superior effectiveness of the cooperative mind‑mapping model over the conventional method.
