Abstract:
Cigarettes are one of the leading causes of death in the world. Smoking is dangerous forsmoking, butthere are still many people who smoke cigarettes, even thosewho start smoking are started by smoking. According to the World Healt Organization (WHO), around 21 million adolescents aged 13 to 15 years smoked in 2020. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge of the dangers of cigarettes and smoking behavior in adolescents at SMAN 1 Ciamis. This study is a type of quantitative research with a quantitative descriptive design through a cross sectional approach, sampling techniques using the distribution of the required number with 90 respondents from a total population of 862 students. The data collection techniques used were knowledge questionnaires and behavioral questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses the Spearman Rank statistical test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between knowledge of the dangers of cigarettes and smoking behavior in adolescents at SMAN 1 Ciamis, because of the α < p value (0.05 < 0.000). This relationship is shown with a correlation value of 0.960 which is included in the very strong category (0.80-1,000). The conclusions of this study are; (1). Knowledge of the dangers of cigarettes in adolescents at SMAN 1 Ciamis mostly has good knowledge, namely a number of (84.4%) respondents; (2). Smoking behavior in adolescents at SMAN 1 Ciamis mostly has a positive category towards smoking behavior, namely a number of (85.6%) respondents; (3). There is a relationship between knowledge of the dangers of cigarettes and smoking behavior in adolescents at SMAN 1 Ciamis. The advice is expected to provide information for adolescents, especially regarding knowledge and behavior about the dangers of cigarettes that can affect the health of adolescents.
