dc.description.abstract This research focused on improving students’ reading ability by using story reenactment strategy at the eighth grade students of an Islamic Junior High School in Ciamis. The aims was to find out whether there is a significant difference and significant improvement in reading ability between the students who are taught by using story reenactment strategy and those who are not. A true-experimental study was used as a research design in this research. The reading test was used by the writer to collect the data. The population of this study was the eighth grade of Islamic Junior High school Ciamis consisting of two classes in forty students. The sample of the study consisting of two classes, Class 8-A consisting of twenty students as experimental group and class 8-B consisting of twenty students as control group. The research site in this study was the eighth grade students of Islamic Junior High School are located on Baregbeg Sub district, Ciamis Regency, West Java Province. To analyze the data, the writer used t-test formula adapted from Burns (2000). The findings revealed that there is a significant difference and significant improvement in reading ability between the students who are taught by using story reenactment strategy and those who are not. It was proved that the result of computation showed that t-observed was four point eight fifty seven and t-critic was two point zero twenty one. Moreover, t-observed was higher than t-critic. The conclusion indicated that story reenactment strategy could be used by the English teacher to improve the students’ reading ability at the eighth grade students of an Islamic Junior High School in Ciamis. Therefore, the English teachers were suggested to improve the students’ reading ability by using story reenactment strategy in teaching reading in the classroom. Meanwhile, the students were suggested to improve their reading ability, skill, and comprehension by using story reenactment strategy. In addition, the other researchers were suggested to use the result of this research in carrying out further studies because it gives a valuable reference and information for the other writers in conducting the similar research. en_US
