dc.description.abstract This paper is a survey study that aims to find out the student’s level of metacognitive strategy awareness in reading comprehension in each major and to find out the student’s dominant strategy in reading comprehension in each major. the data were collected through questionnaire. The type of questionnaire is close-ended questionnaire and it was analyzedby using SPSS 16 and used descriptive statistic. The sample of this research was the 219 students of SMK YPC Tasikmalaya using stratified random sampling. The first research question showed that the results from seven majors the researcher found different levels of metacognitive strategy especially in reading comprehension. Based on the results, the researcher concluded that there are two metacognitive categories, these are high and moderate category from seven majors. The results showed a various answer in each question. The second research question showed thatthe students dominant strategy is PROB strategy in each major, it is evident that PROB strategy obtains the highest mean of each major. It means students dominant use PROB strategy rather than other strategies especially in reading comprehension. The researchers have pointed out, the researcher concluded that this study showed the students grade 11th at SMK Yayasan Pesantren Cintawana in each major has a good metacognitive level that is high and moderate level and problem solving strategies become dominant strategy in each majors.
