The study aims at reporting the negotiated project of reader response journal writing at EFL pre-service teacher training. Reader response journal writing, underpinned by Reader Response Theory (RRT), is believed to have given meaningful effects on the trainees’ perspectives and meaningful literacy experiences. An intact group of second year EFL teacher trainees (N=22),of a private college in Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia, taking Introduction to Literature course, participated in the case study. The six-week observation of the reading-writing (literacy)-oriented project was focused on the trainees’ ways of reading literary works assigned and collaboratively responding to them, critically sharing with their peers to take and to give inputs, and displaying their artistic works as their reader responses. Interviews with the trainees revealed the trainees’ positive opinions towards reader response reflective journal writing. Observation of the classroom dynamics indicated the trainees’ active participation as their reflected responses. The study suggests further studies deal with the response based-classroom interaction patterns viewed from systemic functional linguistics.

This study reports on the application of the integration of national curriculum,&#13;
internationalization program, and the ‘pesantren’ religious contents in an Islamic&#13;
Basic Education in Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia. The study involved the school&#13;
foundation officers, educational consultants, principals, teachers, and students as&#13;
informants. Interviews of this case study were conducted with informants to get the&#13;
subjects’ perspectives on the intentions of the integrated curricula. The results&#13;
indicated the application of contemporary educational systems, including collegial based learning systems, Qur'ani-based natural education systems, the adoption of an&#13;
international curriculum in English and Mathematics, establishing community&#13;
partnerships with ‘madrasas’, the use of a brain-based education approach and&#13;
emotional manegement-based learning system, and the development of curricula&#13;
based on the uniqueness and independence of children. Interestingly, the findings&#13;
indicate that this model of schooling has been able to enable the school graduates to&#13;
be more independent, creative, intelligent, resilient and responsible, and have a noble&#13;
character and have strong faith

This research identifies and examines the implementation of village innovation programs that can encourage the development of local economic potential of both natural resources and human resources in Ciamis Regency, West Java, Indonesia. This study focused more on the "Karomah" Prosperous Family Improvement Business (UPPKS) business group and the "Katineung Rasa" Women's Head Empowerment (PEKKA) group administrator in Bangunharja Village, Cisaga Sub-district, Ciamis Regency, as the research site. This descriptive study involved key informants as primary data sources and used a purposive sampling technique. Furthermore, data analysis was done by reducing data, presenting data and making conclusions. The findings of this study revealed that the implementation of the Village Innovation Program has not been fully synergized to encourage local economic development. This is known from the still lack of ability of the Village Innovation Implementation Team (TPID), the Bangunharja Village Government, as well as business community groups in implementing innovation activities, the lack of human resource development assistance activities and entrepreneurship training as well as the lack of communication between the Village Innovation Implementation Team and the community group business. From these findings, the study recommends TPID coordinate, communicate intensively with the Village Government and UPPKS and PEKKA groups so that the types of businesses developed will be successful. Suggestions are also given to relevant stakeholders to analyse and identify the potential of local resources by focusing on business development and community characteristics.
